Course Structure and Award

The Certificate in Business and Entrepreneurship will be delivered over a semester (18 weeks, including examinations). The total commitment per module is 200 hours in the semester which is divided between 78 contact hours and 122 hours of independent work. 

On completion, you will receive a QQI Certificate in Business & Entrepreneurship at level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications. 


You will be assessed through a combination of continuous assessment and examinations throughout the programme. These can take the form of written examinations, individual or group projects, mock interviews and presentations. 

Entry Requirements 

This is a direct entry programme and you will be accepted onto the programme through a combination of secondary school results and experience.

Applicants are required to have a minimum of 5 passes in the Leaving Certificate or a High School Diploma equivalent.

For non-native speakers IELTS 6.0 or equivalent is necessary. For levels lower than 6.0 IELTS, 6-12 weeks minimum of English language exam preparation is mandatory in our language school Galway Cultural Institute. 

Academic Career & Progression Routes 

After this certificate, you can progress on to a career in business or innovation management in SMEs or multinational organisations. Students who would like to further their academic career can choose to continue their studies through our Bachelor of Business degree and would be exempted from the modules completed within their certificate.
